AVENMERE

Rules

Few, and worth reading.

Most of these come down to one thing: leave the world and the people in it a little better than you found them.

The people

  1. 1

    Respect other players.

Harassment, bullying, hate speech, threats, targeted toxicity, sexual harassment, or deliberately making someone feel unwelcome is prohibited. Friendly banter is fine. Sustained or malicious behaviour is not.

  2. 2

    Keep Avenmere appropriate.

Explicit sexual content, graphic material, extremist content, or seriously inappropriate usernames, skins, builds, signs, books or messages are prohibited. Content that makes the server hostile or unsafe may be removed even when it is not specifically listed here.

  3. 3

    Protect personal information.

Never share someone else's private information without permission. Doxxing, attempting to obtain private information, threatening to expose someone, account theft, phishing, or asking for passwords is strictly prohibited. Protect your own account too.

  4. 4

Do not use Avenmere to advertise.

Talking about other games and communities is normal conversation and always fine. Recruitment, repeated promotion, referral links and unsolicited advertising are not.

Playing fair

  1. 1

    No cheating or unfair advantages.

No hacked or cheat clients, X-ray, unauthorised automation or macros, duplication exploits, or modified clients, mods, resource packs and tools designed to reveal or automate information you could not get by playing. Quality-of-life mods that give no unfair advantage are generally fine. If you find an exploit, report it. Do not use it.

  2. 2

    Do not abuse alternate accounts.

Alts may not be used to evade punishments, bypass gameplay limits, farm restricted rewards, manipulate events, artificially complete community objectives, or claim anything meant to be limited per player. Legitimate alts are otherwise fine.

  3. 3

    Do not evade enforcement.

Do not attempt to bypass bans, mutes, restrictions, anti-cheat, claim protection, chat filters or any other moderation action. Using another account or another player to get around enforcement counts as evasion.

  4. 4

    Do not exploit loopholes.

Not every harmful action can be written down in advance. Finding a technicality, omission or bug does not make it permission. If you have to argue that something is allowed because the rules technically do not forbid it, ask staff first.

  5. 5

    Follow event and competition rules.

Events, challenges, competitions and giveaways may add rules of their own, and those apply on top of these. Exploiting an unintended mechanic to defeat the point of an event is still cheating.

Other people's work

  1. 1

    No griefing or stealing.

Do not destroy, alter, sabotage or take another player's property without permission. That covers builds, storage, farms, animals, redstone and resources. Something being unprotected or reachable does not make it yours.

  2. 2

    Trade honestly.

Scamming, impersonation, fraudulent trades, deliberate deception, or social engineering meant to take someone's items, account or property is prohibited.

The world

  1. 1

Player versus player combat is by consent only.

You cannot harm another player unless you have both accepted a duel. Use /duel <player> to ask; either of you can decline, and a challenge expires after thirty seconds. Nothing is at stake: the killing blow is stopped, so no items drop and no experience is lost, and a duel earns no Legacy Points, Mastery or achievements. Leaving a duel by any means forfeits it. Attempting to harm someone who has not agreed, or to bypass the protections that enforce this, is prohibited.

  2. 2

Do not intentionally disrupt the server.

No lag machines, crash attempts, malicious packets, excessive entity or redstone abuse, deliberate spam, or intentionally destructive terrain generation. Large farms and technical builds are welcome when they are built responsibly.

Staff and enforcement

  1. 1

Staff powers are not gameplay advantages.

Administrative tools exist to run Avenmere. They may not be used to influence survival progression, competitions, achievements, Legacy Points, the economy or server firsts. Staff playing survival follow the same rules as everyone else.

  2. 2

Staff may act to protect Avenmere.

Staff may investigate suspicious activity and take reasonable action to protect the server, its players, its economy and its progression. Enforcement weighs intent, severity, impact, previous behaviour, the available evidence, and any attempt to conceal or repeat the behaviour.

  3. 3

    Enforcement depends on the situation.

Outcomes range from a warning, through removal of improperly obtained items or progression, mutes, temporary restrictions and temporary bans, to a permanent ban. There is no fixed sequence, and serious violations can mean immediate removal. Supporter status, rank, playtime and past contributions exempt nobody.

  4. 4

    Rules and gameplay may change.

Avenmere is still growing. Rules, balancing, progression, rewards, worlds, features and events may change as it does. You are responsible for following the current rules.
